Project ALS Family
Tight End, Student; State College, PA
In 2010, Tom Kirchhoff, a family friend, was diagnosed with ALS. I witnessed first-hand how devastating this disease really is, and I knew immediately I wanted to help. In the summer of 2012, I organized and started a fundraising campaign, Catch The Cure (www.catch-the-cure.com), which leveraged my status as a national high school football recruit to raise funds and awareness for Project ALS. The initial goal for the fundraiser was $20,000, however, to date we have raised almost $200,000 for Project ALS research. Now, as a football player at Penn State University, Catch The Cure is still accepting donations, and I continue to assist Project ALS any way I can. As I progress in my football career, and eventually my career after football, I plan to continue to fundraise for Project ALS and help in the amazing work they do for ALS patients around the world. Meredith, Valerie, and Erin are such committed individuals who, along with Tom, inspire me in everything I do. Project ALS is a world-class organization and I am very proud to be a part of it.
