Lewis P. Rowland, M.D.
Professor of Neurology, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons
Dr. Rowland was Chair of Neurology at Columbia for 25 years and, earlier, he served as Chair at the University of Pennsylvania. A co-founder of the Eleanor and Lou Gehrig MDA/ALS Center, he has been President of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Neurological Association, and the Association of Professors of Neurology. Dr. Rowland has given dozens of named lectures and received numerous awards, including the Shirley Essey and Forbes Norris Awards for outstanding research in ALS. He is a member of the Institute of Medicine.
