Humble. Caring. Strong.
Have you ever had someone in your life that wasn’t concerned with material possessions? Someone that was more concerned about others than themselves? A person whose strength could not be measured?
Have you ever had to watch that person slowly waste away?
If you haven’t then you’re very lucky. If you have then you know the devastating effects of watching a loved one fight the unwinnable battle against ALS.
Currently there is no cure for this disease.
I’m one of many people that would like to see that change.
I lost my humble, caring and strong grandmother, Lillie Shapiro, to ALS many years ago.
While she is no longer with us in body her spirit still lives on through her family. And in honor of this amazing woman I’ll be running the Long Island Half-Marathon, on May 4th 2014, in hopes of raising money for Project A.L.S. so that one day ALS will no longer be a death sentence.
I hope you can find it in your hearts to donate – not for me…but for the “Love of Lillie”.
Thank you. Read more about my efforts and donate here.
